Here is a short list of things you can do to fill your day with. Wat Phra Kaeo and the Grand Palace. Or the temple of the Emerald Buddha. This temple adjoins the Grand Palace on common ground. If you have only one day in Bangkok, this is the place you must see! It was constructed in 1782, the first year that the kings ry\uled from Bangkok. There are over 100 buildings that represent over 200 years of royal history and architecture! The buildings are mostly build in Rattanakosin or Bangkok style. Nowadays the Grand Palace is mostly used for ceremonial purposes.Vimanmek Teak mansion. This palace was originally constructed on Ko Si Chang in 1868. It was moved to the current ground in Suan Dusit after a French naval bloccade. The building is made of golden teak, and is said to be the largest in it's kind. It is 3 stories high and has over 80 rooms! After it was moved to Dusit it served as Rama V's residence in the early 1900's. Wat Pho Wat Pho dates back to the 16th century and with that this is the oldest temple in Bangkok. It is also the largest. It has a beautiful reclining Buddha, which is the largest in Thailand. Wat Pho also houses a traditional massage school. You can take massages here and you can even follow a course to learn about the techniques of Thai massage. Wat Arun In English the name of the temple is:The temple of the dawn. It is located on the Thonburi side of Bangkok. And it is located directly on the river. It used to be the royal palace before king Rama I moved the palace grounds to its current location. The temple looks most impressive when watched from the river especially during sunrise or sunset.Chatuchak (weekend market)This is the mother of all markets in Thailand. It has over 8000 vendors selling about everything that you can possibly imagine. Snakes, chickens, handicraft, clothing in all shapes and sizes, you think of it and you can probably find it somewhere over here. For those who end up not taking enough money with them, no worries, there are ATM's. There is also excellent food, both Thai and internationally.
