Have you noticed that parts of Pattaya seem to be getting more rain? Well, maybe you are right. I went to the meteorological station on the hill by the Buddhist shrine and gathered some interesting data and information. We had zero rain in January. February 4.5 millimeters. March 39.8 , April 103.8 and as of May 20th 154.6 millimeters. The rain has been scattered of the days of the month. In May ,1988 we had a total of 138.2 millimeters. May 1989 52.8 , May 1990 349.3 a real gully washer month. May 1991 164.2 , May 1992 27.8 May 1993 80.8 , May 1994 136.03 May 1995 181.1 May 1996 202.8 and May 1997 51.8 millimeters of rain. I did not get data for 1999 but May 2000 141.6 and May 2001 125.6 millimeters of rain. So the bottom line is yes, we are getting more rain. I asked “why”. The answer I got was that the ocean water temperature has risen approximately 1 degree. That 1-degree doesn’t seem like much but it does have an effect on global weather. Under the sea is thermal activity and above the sea is air pollution. Maybe we are all going to suffer a little more with the bad weather around the world. Higher temperatures mean more rain and maybe less snow in those parts of the world that gets snow. It might mean our ice shelves will melt a little and ocean levels will increase a small amount. Plants and animals will all be effected. There seems to be a longer growing season in North America but the polar bears are dying off due to a shorter hunting season for seals. So what can we do about it? Not much can be done because it is a global event. We could try to change air pollution but it doesn’t seem possible on a global level. So what do we do now? Don’t worry about it. It’s a blessing and it will change by it’s self. I think. HA HA HA
