Build a school, Buy a Scholarship, Brighten a Future

The Jester’s Care for Kids Charity drive has enjoyed the success of raising over 10 million Baht during the last 5 years for organizations benefiting the disadvantaged children in the region. Charity work is never done. Join us or continue to support the cause.
There is a “Good Samaritan Pledge” for those wishing to make a one-time donation. Call the chairman, Mr. Louis Underwood (Woody) 01-344-4680 or e-mail JCD2003@care4kids.info or www.care4kids.com or Sister Joan 038 361-720 at the Fountain of Life.
The “Pledge For Kids” program has a corporate sponsorship for companies or individuals who are making a monthly donation over the years. The options are Corporate Gold Pledge of 2,000 Baht per month or a Corporate Silver Pledge of 1,000 Baht per month.
A personal Gold Pledge of 1,000 Baht per month or a Silver pledge of 500 Baht per month.
There are nine “Platinum Sponsors”(100,000) Baht for 2003 and there is room for more.
There is a brochure including an application pledge form, framed certificates and pictures of the children and a thank you letter. There are prizes at several raffles including airline tickets, resort accommodations, a Manchester United ‘7’ shirt signed by David Beckham and a pair of signed balls, a signed unpublished manuscript ‘Private Dancer’ by the best selling author Stephen Leather, signed Formula 1 Car & Driver photos, framed Schumi Sisters, a 160 photo album by Howard Greene plus much more. There are stylish T-shirts with children’s face paintings on the front and ten platinum sponsors on the back for 300 Baht too.
Some of the most enthusiastic responses to the Charity drive have been from the local international schools. Garden International School had a variety of events, including two bake sales, a raffle, book and toy sales, two discos, mufti-day, ice cream sale, Pancake Day and a barbecue. The International School of the Regents donated proceeds from their 6th Forum Business Studies and the High School Student Council at the International School of the Eastern Seaboard raised money from brownie and popcorn sales for the Middle school students.
The students learned about business and raising money for charity. One other benefit was that the students spent time in organized football games and other activities with the children from the Fountain of Life.
There are two major events. The first major event is on Sunday, September 14th at the Diana Garden Resort & Driving Range. The day will start with an adults only 25K or 50K leisurely bike ride just for fun and activity. The rest of the day at the driving range there will be food and drink, children’s games, shopping and raffles, music and entertainment. The second major event is the Jesters Pub Night on Saturday, September 20th at Shenanigan’s Irish Pub and Restaurant. It will be the party of the year with the best of music, food and drink and the Grand Raffle and professional auction.
This is a organized, educated and professional group of local people and businesses that have taken upon themselves to collect and keep track of every Baht and to follow up to make sure the money goes where it is suppose to go and nowhere else.
The money goes to the underprivileged and abandoned children. The children attend the Fountain of Life Center. The Fountain of Life Center gives some children a start in life and some education and ID plus a chance to earn a scholarship to go to a Government school if the children qualify. Also, money is being spent on badly needed equipment for children at the Redemptorist School for the Blind in Naklua. Also, the money is being used to re-build the school at the Child Welfare & Protection Institute Huay Pong. Work started in June and that will be the subject of the next Pattaya Mail press TV report.
There is great satisfaction in just knowing that you helped someone without expecting anything in return. You can make a difference. What goes around, comes around. Love one another. Live long and prosper. Live, love and laugh.
